Montana Foliage!

Montana’s high-country is lighting up with fall color!

Though Montana isn’t as famous for its autumn color as its east-coast cousins, many of the deciduous plants put on a show as the days begin to shorten. These trees and shrubs along Rock Creek in the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness are some of the first in the state to change due to their very high altitude.

Trees in the rest of the state will be changing over the coming weeks, from the brilliant aspens covering the hillsides to the golden cottonwoods along the rivers.
