While winter is still in full-force, I take a trip into the mountains of western Maine to check out Maine Huts and Trails hut-to-hut ski system. The system, based in Kingfield, has three backcountry lodges and over thirty miles of trails for hiking, biking, skiing or snowshoeing. While the trails are groomed, they still have that deep back-country feel as they wind through the woods. I skied to the Flagstaff Hut and had a blast exploring the lake and relaxing by the fire.
